Prof. N.R. Shetty had a brilliant academic career and obtained his B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics with Electronics as a special subject from Madras University, M.Sc. (Opto-Electronics) from University of Essex (U.K.) and Ph.D. from Dept. of Electrical Engineering of IIT Bombay. He has over thirty five years of teaching experience at Post Graduate Level and Research Experience in the areas of Microwave Engineering, Quantum and Opto Electronics, Solid State Physical Electronics, etc. He had held the position of Professor and Principal of Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal, Vice-Chancellor (two terms) of Bangalore University, Member Secretary and Chief Executive, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi.
Prof.N.R. Shetty has published over thirty papers in International/National Journals and edited ten proceedings which include proceedings of ISTE Winter/Summer Schools for teachers in the areas of Microwave and Communication Engineering and Entrepreneurship Development. He was the recipient of Shiromani Vikas Award (1993), Bharat Vikas Award (1996), Bhargava Award (1997) and Bharat Ratna Sir M.V. National Parisara Ratna Award (1999).
